About Edgars Erglis
I am Edgars Erglis, a New York based Landscape photographer, but you can call me simply Ed. I truly enjoy being out in nature and memorizing all the beautiful moments that I witness. Long hikes and backpacking is what I really enjoy. Away from comfort, noisy cities and traffic is the place I find a connection with Mother Nature. The energy I receive from this sharpens my vision for future creative artwork. That feeling of connection, great light, colors, tones, shapes and edges. All seen together and captured with one camera click allows me to be endlessly creative with my vision and later share it with rest of world. Every moment I spend out there is special to me. It’s like speaking another language that reaches into your soul and which not everyone can understand.
The same as everyone I started at a beginners level. For me this started when I was in high school. That was just simple photography with a simple camera. I always wanted to have a serious camera with a nice zoom. Today its what makes me smile, but back than it was my dream. After I purchased my first DSLR and shot a couple of landscapes I shared them on my social webpage. I started to notice that even without any true knowledge of photography that people liked what I created. And that's where my story began. I expanded my list of tools for memorizing my vision and I became a part of the New York Institute of Photography. I was absorbing all the information I could like a sponge. I looked everywhere, read books, searched the internet endlessly learning every detail I could about photography. Every moment I had I was reading about composition and the technicality of tools that I need to use. When I got tired of that I was listening audio. After audio I jumped into video lessons. From day to day I was learning, growing, absorbing information from everywhere. Through it all I was able to find to my inner world and absorb all that I needed to share my vision with rest on the world. Nothing comes easy but we have only one option and we have to use it!
Soon after I started to receive recognitions from people from all around the world who enjoyed my photography I shared my art with contests. That's my best reward, to hear that someone thinks my photography is great and those moments I memorize are special. Today I collect publications and international awards in world renowned pro photographer contests, besides social media such as Facebook who follow and enjoy my artwork. The best award is that people like what you do, they appreciate and enjoy your vision. That feeling of happiness and recognition is the biggest award of all.
